Well, I finally put a crowbar into my wallet and bought a new PC. *2.4ghz Pentium with a 64meg Geforce 4 video card.

When I got Red Baron loaded on the PC, I decided to try a 'Glide wrapper' to see if I could get the game to run in 3D. *There is a free wrapper out called GLIDOS and it looked like it was made with Red Baron in mind so I downloaded it. *I followed the setup instructions, loaded the game and when I went to fly a mission, the screen just went 'blank' and the game stopped responding.

After much attempting tweaking of things on my computer, I was about to give up when I went to a site that deals exclusively with Glide wrappers. *After reading some previous posting on that site about similar issues, I decided to follow one of their most common tips which is to down-load the most recent drivers for your video card.

I did that.....and (much to my surprise), it worked! *I have to tell you, Red Baron in is one sweet-looking game in 3d. *There is a bit of a frame-rate hit but it isn't bad on my machine. *I was getting between 68-71 fops without GLIDOS, with it I am still in the low which is terrific.

Give Glidos a try if *you haven't already.

It isn't perfect. *Some of the rear and side views of your own aircraft have very minor glitches, but the view of other aircraft and the world in general is superb.

Scott;

Yes Glidos is the way to go.

And - as there is hardly any RBII posting on this board I suggest you go to simHQ Forums/Red Baron;
http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

Go back about 20 days or so - read this stuff and you will be up to date on everything that is going on.

Regards,
Barkhorn.

Thanks again, Barkhorn. I'l check that site out.

I did download Campaign Manager (two different versions) and installed them one at a time to my game but I don't notice anything different. Do you know if you get different menu selections in the campaigns or what? Not sure if I loaded either of them correctly but I'd like to try some of the add-on patches while I am waiting for Full Canvas Jacket...but I can't tell if Campaign manager is there working or not.

Scott (my name btw ):

Campaign Manager does not have any "in-game" effects - outside of certain INI file changes that you can make.

What it does do is allow you to manage various patches more easily.

Now - judging by what I read below I'm not sure if you have it installed right.

So...first off go to this site;
http://www.wings-of-valor.net/
(which has ALL RBII related stuff) and make sure you have the following;
cm11.zip
vbrun300.dll (this goes into your c:/windows/system folder if you are running W98 or your windows/system32 folder for XP - if you get a prompt saying the file already exists then cancel the copying).

Now, unzip cm11 in your Red Baron root directory - be sure you have "use folder names" checked.

Now, go to your Red Baron root directory and run the CM11 executable - it has an English cockade as opposed to RB's German maltese cross. This step actually set's up Campaign Manager.

Finally, right click on the CM11 executable and create a shortcut. Then move it to your desktop. The click on the shortcut and visit the various screens to find out what they do.

Most people open CM first and then Red Baron, using ALT+TAB to minimize RB and go into CM.

Hope this helps,
Barkhorn.

Hey...that makes a BIG difference. I didn't notice the executable file and assumed that this patch just loaded and was integrated into the game. I was confused because I didn't see how to use it. Now it is working fine!

It's nice to have a guide with this stuff. I'm fairly computer literate but installing these patches was new to me.

Many...many "thank you"s!
