Fokker EV/DVIII for FS9

Hello folks, I've been piddlin' along on building an accurate version of the "Flying Razor" for use in FS9 since sometime in January. I'm nearing the end of the project and finalising the package.

I would like some input from you on the color interpretations I've made,(with the help of DanSan and Jeff Brooks),and an overall impression you get from the model. This is a small sample of the 35 Paintschemes I'll be including in the package.

This is my first 3D project,(although I have been Texture Painting IL2 and FS planes for some time),and need some general and honest opinions from those of you "In the Know" on WWI subjects on accuracy. I'm still uncertain as to whether the mounting plates on the wing were painted to match the wing or the cabanes?

Thanks again for looking and I'm looking forward to your viewpoints.

Cheers
Randy

They all look great. I am glad to see that you picked up on the stained camouflage of the wing. They look great.
Blue skies,

Thank you Dan.

I do have that question about the mounting brackets on the wings. Were they painted like the Struts or like the wing? I've tried both versions with screenshots and given them an overexposed orthographic filter. Both versions look so similar to original photos that I cannot tell if they are painted as the wing or the struts. Any info here would certainly help me finish her up.

Cheers
Randy

Thanks JFM..I'm doing this for FS9 currently, but, I am in the midst of rewriting all my XML gauge code to be FSX compliant. So,sometime in the near future I'll be able to port this model into FSX and have it fully DX10and SP/Acceleration compatible.

Thumbs up

Hey Randy,

The D.vIII looks really great. One thing you need to add to the model is in the wing cut out, I believe it had leather padding on all 3-sections. All struts would have been gray-green same as the frame I believe, but Dan would know. Cowling is to clean too, LOL!

Kermit Weeks D.vIII video

Any chance of showing an in-flight video of her?

You may what to think about having these, or any others you do, compatible with OFF Phase-3 too. I would purchase it and so would others.

Cheers,
WF2

Awesome web site, BTW.

Thanks WF2,

The one screen with the Yellow struts is actually Sachsenbergs Yellow Checkered EV. From what I've gleaned from the photo is that the struts were painted Yellow on this single aircraft.

Regarding Phase 3, I'm not even certain which SDK standards are being followed for it's models, it's always a possibility though.

Cheers
Randy
