ROF compatible?
After discovering ROF here I went to the website. Sounds really neat, but it lists 2.4 dual core processor as minimum and I have only "Intel Pentium dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00 GHz". Would this outfit be usable for AI mode (single player) only? I can't play on the internet (multiplayer) because I'm on satellite. Thanks

I think you'd have to 'suck it and see', since there's more than the main CPU that will affect how it runs. So long as your graphics card meets the specs, it should run, but whether that constitutes it running to your satisfaction in terms of smooth frame rates, is another matter.
I've run ROF on a single core Pentium 4 for example, although the graphics had to be turned down quite a bit to get a decent frame rate. How much RAM you have and what graphics card you have on your system will also be factors on what it will run like. Some older graphics cards won't like it at all. It does seem to prefer computers with a lot of RAM.

You said in your last sentence "I cant play on the internet because I have satellite". I think that would mean that you shouldnt buy it rather than your processor speed because I believe it requires you to have a strong internet connection because of the automatic upgrades.
Life without ROF is not the end of the world. I dont have a good internet either so didnt buy it. I do enjoy First Eagles 1918 though which can be very immersive, and doesnt require an uber computer or fast internet connection. You can also check out the Over Flanders Fields mod for CFS3 which has a strong support base here.

I'm not sure of the speed, but the 3 second delay would get me killed without hesitation.
Says requires 2.0G of ram and I have 3070M 0f ram, which I think is 3.0G.
I'll check my graphics card.

The Version 1.06 patch was released yesterday. It was 199 Meg which brings the total in patches (which you HAVE to download first before you can play) to about half a Gig....
If you have a slow internet connection, small download limit or if you have to pay extra if you exceed your download limit, then ROF may not be for you...

(Still looking for the guy who stole the Aldis sight of my SE5a...)

steved,
If you have a slow or unreliable internet connection, you will be constantly frustrated by ROF, as it REQUIRES an internet connection to play, even when you play a single player campaign against AI.
The internet connection is not just a requirement to log on and receive (whether you want them or not) upgrades. You can't log on, launch ROF, then log off and go for a flight. It must be on all the time.
It has been said "If you want eye candy, get ROF, if you want the total immersion WW1 flying experience, get OFF".
Rise Of Flight has a requirement to be connected to the internet at all times. OFF does not require a connection at all (unless you want the upgrades they provide constantly - those you can download anywhere else and add if you need/want them).
Rise of Flight ships with four flyable aircraft. Sure, they are making more...at $6 or $7 each...and if the company goes broke?....OFF ships with 39 flyable aircraft. If you can work out the maths...an extra 35 aircraft at $6 each.
It has been said that ROF's single player campaign is not that good. Very predictable. OFF has a stunning single player campaign, with constantly moving front lines (after the big push etc), and you can fly throughout the entire war, not just a few years as in ROF.
Over Flanders Fields: Between Heaven and Hell is your answer. Go to YouTube and look at videos of both in action. OFF is not some poor grainy rubbish sim. It is a wonderful, total immersion simulation you will be playing for years.
Do I have ROF? No. Only 4 aircraft. Requirement to be connected to the internet. Both put me right off. It seems to me that the game is not finished. Sure, it looks pretty, but so does OFF. And that's a great campaign.
Someone described ROF as being like a supermodel with herpes. You want to play with it, but the bugs are kind of putting you off.

...and to add, RoF has a try before you buy option now...

For those who have been keeping their eyes on our “manoeuvres” but have not yet joined our air service, we open special demo-access.
If you are already a registered user on our website, but you did not buy the game yet, you can activate Rise of Flight demo-access in your "Profile" (Go to section "Demo"). Demo-access provides you with one aircraft (Spad 13.C1), and three missions: first mission of Training campaign, “Russian roulette” and “Single Patrol” missions.
Rate our updated website, try new planes! Still have any doubts? Try demo before you buy!

Dunno about that. Looks to me like SteveD has done a bit of research about the suitability of ROF for his setup. My internet provider specifically says that the service is not suitable for online play so after reading the reviews of ROF I too decided not to buy it.
Having said that, I tried OFF a while back and didnt like it much, so I settled on First Ealges from Thirdwire. Maybe the demo would be a good option if it doesnt put a huge dent into any monthly download quota.

My quoted comment was directed at the other Steve..."SteveDrew".. Not "SteveD"
I then posted the demo info for "SteveD" ..not SteveDrew".
And still it's silly to post a review about something one has not tried themselves.
That said..you people that suffer under bandwidth quotas ..dont know what to tell you. Walk hard and good luck I guess.
Ultimately though..It's not the fault of RoF that some peoples ISP's are screwing them
