New life for Red Baron 3D?

Just saw this on the AAA site for IL2:

Huge news in the flight sim world this week for any of us who are WWI prop heads... Damon Slye and the good folks over at Mad Otter Games have acquired the rights to the Red Baron series and appear to be intent on upgrading RB3D to current flight sim standards. For anyone who doesn't recognize Damon's name, you might recognize the names of flight sims he's designed... Red Baron, Aces over the Pacific, Aces over Europe, and A10 Tank killer. He was a co-founder of Dynamix game studio. Anyway, I (and I imagine a lot of other flight simmers around here) cut my teeth on his flight sims and am very excited that he's getting back into flight sim design. An updated and modernized RB3D would rock!

Regards,
d

OK I just googled it and found tons of links about this. I even went to MAdOtters site. It's true they have bought the titles and now are offering a reward of $1500.00 to anyone who can come up with the complete source code for any of the games. Sure sounds like they plan to do something with it. That would be so great. I used to play rb3d alot but stopped when I got a new machine that didn't have a seriel port to fit my joystick. (I know I could have just gone out and bought an USB stick but never really got around to it)

I'd love to see Red Baron revived - as long as it can be made to work on my machine with 64 bit Vista. Right now most of my old games sit unused because of incompatibility with that wonderful Vista program.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!

Its about time somebody steps up and help bring this game to its full glory!
I haven't played RB3D for two years because I had to replace my PC's original CD drive to a current DVD-CD drive. This is very good news to many of us!
I hope they improve the multiplayer because during my time playing the game I seldom played online because I couldn't get any available servers.

Hope the project goes well!

I hope they put a two seater option on the multi-player game. I think it would be cool to be a rear gunner on a sop 1-1/2 strutter while my son flies.

Turn on MSNBC and do the same with "the fact that." You'll forget your name within a half hour.

Dittos Jeff. I'd also like to see the ability to set up quick missions, where I can choose an assortment of enemy planes to go against simultaneously, as in Pacific Fighters or IL2. After all these years, I'm still addicted to RB3D, and play it almost daily. A short dogfight before bed takes the edge off a tough day. An upgraded version would be fantastic. Thanks for the heads up DJM.
