My first post.
I just wanted to say Hi to all at the Aerodrome.
I have been interested in the WW1 airwar since I was a kiddy, but have tended to stick more to WW2 (heresy, I know!). I am also a big fan of Combat Flight Simulator 2. I do aircraft repaints and in-game screens and I came to realise that WW1 had a lot to offer the CFS2 community, so I've started creating a WW1 interface for the game and have really become fascinated by this period of air combat, so finding this site was a huge bonus for me.
This is a superb site for the enthusiast and I intend to spend many hours trawling through all the excellent information available on it.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers,
PomBee

Welcome to The Aerodrome PomBee. I don't know if you're aware of it, but there is a very fine WW1 combat flight simulator which is very immersive that uses the CFS3 engine. Over Flanders Fields: Between Heaven and Hell is a great WW1 aviation simulator, very in-depth, and totally addictive.
There is another WW1 aircraft simulator called Rise of Flight that is less immersive, but a very fine flight model of WW1 aircraft.
You can check out short clips of both sims on YouTube by typing in OFF or Rise of Flight, and you'll be amazed at the brilliant graphics, superbly rendered aircraft, wonderful scenery, and terrific sounds. You can go to the Games and Flight Sims section here at the Aerodrome Forum to read other's opinions etc, and either make a decision on which you want to buy (or buy both as some do).
As far as repaints are concerned...there are over 3000 skins for ww1 aircraft in Over Flanders Fields, and you can design your own and use them in the sim.
I hope you enjoy your stay here at The Aerodrome Forum, and hope you enjoy checking out OFF and RoF.

Thanks for the welcome, folks.
I will definitely check out OFF and RoF. They both sound very interesting.
I think that the main reason that I wanted to produce a WW1 interface for CFS2 is that there are some superb WW1 aircraft available for the game, but only one site has so far produced any kind of interface (Aerocrate). Although they've done a nice job of the main screens, they have only had the opportunity to produce nationality screens for Britain and Germany (with US screens in progress). I have completed screens for 13 nationalities so far (these include RFC, RNAS, USAS, USN, Kreigsmarine and Luftstreitkrafte, but also Italian, Ottoman, French, Belgian, Austro-Hungarian, Canadian and Australian sets). What I do need to find to complete the interface is an opening video sequence in .mpeg format. It only has to be 30 seconds or so long, showing, perhaps, a dogfighting sequence or similar.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions as to where I might find such a thing.
Here's hoping.
Cheers.
PomBee.
P.S. While I admire virtually all WW1 pilots, I have a particular soft-spot for Mick Mannock.
