Wings of War - WWI

Hello Everyone,
I haven't been to this site for awhile, but since I'm getting ready to buy the game 'Wings of War' WWI , 'Watch your Back' and a few planes, I wanted to get any feedback on the game. I did read some of the threads on it but I would like to know more. Like ,is it too easy to game, even though I don't want it too hard either? Are the planes worth what I see them going for on ebay?
Does anyone know if the new owner,Fantasy Flight is going to come out with any of the planes there use to be or new ones? Produce the box sets they had?
Just anything really that has to do with the game, and only WWI.
Even though I haven't been to this site, I haven't ever stopped building bi-planes,they are my favorite planes. I war-game at a gaming store 2-3 times a month. But have been wanting to own a WWI aerial game and thought I would try 'Wings of War'. I have played 'Aerodrome' game once, in 1/72, it was
a fantastic night of gaming, about 5-6 people, but the owner of the game has stopped coming. And I need to get back in the air!! If you would, anyone, let me know what you think. I will appreciate it greatly.
Thanks,

sky pilot

Hi Sky Pilot, I have Wings of War and I can tell you that the new owner of the company is continuing to produce planes. I received a new model today from 12-7 games in the post today, the Caproni bomber. If you go to 12-7-Games you can see what is available and what is coming soon.

As far as game play is concerned I belong to the Adelaide Gamers Group and they play Wings of War as part of their overall battle campaigns. I just go along for that part and there is usually 6 -8 other folk there to guide me and help me through some of the less obvious rules. Not sure where you are but it sounds like you will find someone to assist you if needed too. It is a lot of fun and after a few games you will start to get the hang of it. I have over 30 planes now, some original WoW planes, a lot of balsa planes from JSMwarplanes (sells his on Ebay). and a couple of F-Toys ones. All mine are pre painted but you can get other ones that you paint yourself if you are into that. Visit Wings of Glory Aerodrome for amore comprehensive overview of the game and check out some of the albums there to see what others have and are doing. Enjoy your game.

WW I Wings of War

Hi VFC_ Baxter,
I will check out the two sites & ebay for planes. You verified what I was hoping for, a good review on the game. Yesterday I picked up the game 'Watch your Back', 4 - two-seater's [2-Ger., 2-Allied] and a booster deck all in a package deal, just under $50, brand new. I think I got a great deal. That should get me started.
I sell on ebay too, but I'm not sure if I can say my user name in this thread.
Thanks for the reply, you were very helpful.

I'm a huge WoW/WoG fan I have 200 WW1 models and it is my favorite game. Ares will be producing the older aircraft, new aircraft and a complete rule set with out aircraft. E-bay prices are crazy. 1/144 aircraft can be bought at Shapeways for a decent price but they are unpainted. There is a great website call Wings of Glory Aerodrome at Wings of Glory Aerodrome it has everything you want to know.
It is a great hobby to get into to.

Thumbs up

G'Day Sky Pilot!
Yes Wings of War has been re-launched by Ares Games under the name "Wings of Glory".
They have just released the first Giant Bomber series, 2 Gothas & 2 Caproni's.
A series 5 early war series is due out in June with Fokker Eindekers, Halberstadts, DH-2's & Morane Bullets.
Series One is also due to be reissued later in the year. A new Rules & Manouver Card Pack is also due for release in June.
Do not pay the big Dollars being asked on E Bay. There are still a few Scouts but many 2 seaters available from various sources. Do visit The Wings of Glory Aerodrome for heaps of Info & good people.
I am over there as "gully_raker"

Incidently many of us have been buying 3D printed 1/144 models from Shapeways & painting them up ourselves. Check out the Shapeways sub forum in the Hobby Section of the Forum.

Hope to catch up with you over there!
