O´Connor said "Ten of the 16 awards were given to airmen, all of them non-comissioned officer pilots."
He notes and describes the biographies of the following airmen:
Offizier-Stellvertreter
Fritz Kosmahl
Vizefeldwebel
Sebastian Festner
Vizefeldwebel Josef Schleiffer
Offizier-Stellvertreter Max Müller
Offizier-Stellvertreter Hans Basch
Vizefeldwebel Julius Tillmanns
Offizier-Stellvertreter (First name?) Krause
Offizier-Stellvertreter Albert Jünger
Offizier-Stellvertreter
Karl Thom
Vizefeldwebel Franz-Josef Ophaus
As well O´Connor mentioned already
Edmund Nathanael and asks if he was the "Nathanael" who was mentioned by the Militär-Wochenblatt as holder of the award.
And yes, something between EK1 and PlM but I assume it was the highest Prussian award which could be applied to a NCO. Already the little number of 16 (in fact 18?) awards makes it so valuable.
