Iron Cross - 1st Class
These photos are of an Iron Cross
that was in my Grandfather's old scrapbook of WWI mementos. He told me he had removed it from a German pilot who had fatally crashed at his Aerodrome. I presume that was at Issoudun Aerodrome. very nice. i have one with all the paperwork that goes with it. got it years ago at a show is germany. mine does not have the pin on the back . did they come both ways? (for a ribbon or chain or pin)

Iron Cross with ribbon
Hi robkamm,
From my research if you have an Iron Cross with a ribbon on it that is a Second Class award. The Iron Cross with a pin is a First Class award. The First Class Iron Cross can be flat or vaulted. Mine is vaulted. The paperwork is great to have. Does your Iron Cross have a number or Hallmark on the reverse? With your paperwork is the name of the recipient of this award listed? I wish I knew the name of the German Aviator that wore this Iron Cross. Todd

Hi Gents,
here a document for the iron cross 1st class awarded to Ltd.R. Friedrich Müller, observer by FA A 282. He was a cavalry officer at the begin of WW1. Second pic show his IC1 that come with this group. Regards Alex

yes i have his complete military record. payment books from ww1 and 2 , compains books, misc railway passes etc. it was a great find. he was a soldier in both wars for germany. i can post more info/papers if you like. the iron cross document is not on paper. looks like a kind of fabric or wax cloth.? pictures on the way

Hi Guys,
Here are the pictures from my Iron cross second class with his document  On the ring there is a mark 'KM' this stands for " Konigliche Muenzamt Stuttgart " wich is the maker of this cross. (PS this is the last week I'll have it,it's for sale on a Belgium site) |
