German Aviation Insignia
This is a M1910 service or M1915 dress uniform pair of Prussian Fliegertruppen Leutnant rank insignia. The silver thread was subdued on M1915 service uniforms, and wartime branch or other regimental insignia were often Feldgrau painted on that type of rank insignia.
The black "V"s indicate Prussia. Bavaria used blue "V"s, Saxony green "V"s and so on.
These are the actual flying corps underlay, a blue/gray shared by all motorized units (motor transport, railways, etc). I have never liked boards from other branches of service with those emblems (regimental numbers or elite unit cuphers) removed and propellors pinned in because that "seller upgrade" is one of the most ancient cons in Imperial collecting-- even though many (perhaps most) flyers DID wear their intact old uniforms with aviation branch insignia simply added on. But then you should expect to see real age and not bright shiny freshly removed numbers etc "ghosts" on bullion boards.
Somebody took these off a tunic in recent decades-- see the brighter bullion where the button pressed down, making an almost airtight tarnish seal?
