FYI: Ehrenbecker

Best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year to you all!!!

While visiting my folks for the holidays (our 2 month old son Ehren's first Christmas!) I was perusing my dad's latest issue of Coin World (12,26,05) and stumbled across a dealer's ad (Johnathan Kern Coins) that featured misc. silver trinkets. Well, lo and behold he had an Ehrenbecker for sale! Here's the blurb that went with it:

"World War I silver cup 7 1/2 in high, given to recipients of the Blue Max Flying Ace decoration. Two beautifully embossed eaagles in combat, below "For Victory in Air Combat" This was awarded to W. Frankel, the only Jewish recipient of this award. His name was later erased from the official records of the Third Reiche, but he fled to California by then. An amazing combination of fine silverwork, aviation history and Holocaust ephemera, and a big drinking cup. EF............$17,700"

Anybody interested?

"....the only Jewish recipient of this award". - not true.

"..... but he fled to California by then." - ditto.
