Charlie got a friend?

Good morning Pmirl! I saw this on Ebay also but I just dont' trust it and wouldn't want to pay good money for something that is probably a fake. It seems a lot of fabric off of Manfred's plane is turning up lately. Hummmm

Come' On Maggie!

Dear Margaret, Hey I think we have stumbled on the 21st Century's version of pieces of the "True Cross." Let the great unwashed spend their money on 16 yards of fabric ripped from MvR's triplane, that's probably why P.T. Barnum once uttered words to the effect that nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public. VR, Roadhog "Memento mori."

Without a single bit of provenance things such as these have value only in the mind of the seller. The certificate of authenticity they offer is likewise meaningless as there is nothing on which it is based. And it is signed by a couple of autograph dealers who work out of a P.O. Box. What is their expertise in WW I aircraft fabric or 100 year old hair? If they were attesting to their opinion solely of the originality of a MvR autograph I might give their certificate of authenticity a tiny bit of weight as far an an autograph goes but there is no autograph involved in this lot.
