Friedrich Christiansen Albums for sale !

I was going in shock when I saw that the two original albums of Christiansen at Zeebrugge with over 330 photo's are for sale on e-bay in a live auction.

I hope they find a good home with someone who cares to share them with the community

What the Heck - I tried to have a look at the item and got the standard "[...]due to legal restrictions in you home country..." eBay message. Is there one of these "Nazi Memorabilia Blocks"- things placed on the auction or what is going on?

Seems like one of the stupid ebay policies is working.

Regrettably, in some cases this policy may prevent users from accessing items that do not violate the law

No problem viewing here. This is killer set of albums which should go to a museum in Germany. Unfortunately I pay the tax man $92,000 tomorrow, which leaves me with little (no) free cash. If anybody out there has deep pockets and no tax bill, this is a great set of albums. Will chip in towards buying them if anyone is interested.

Ernst Udet, too!

Hi,

As Taz knows, the same seller, Hermann Historika, is offering no less than SEVEN of Ernst Udet's personal albums, including some magnificent stuff from 1916-1917 - in a matter of a few hours. It just makes me want to cry. Some rich fat cat with VERY deep pockets will get those, and we'll probably never see them again. Since some of them feature prominent Nazi personalities, it will unfortunately hike the price up even higher.

Hopefully some responsible Museum or other institution may try to get all of these treasures - both Udet's and Christiansen's.

I'll just hope potential German bidders were informed beforehand: it's 0106 at night here right now...

I have just sent a complaint email to ebay. Maybe it helps for this and the Udet Album auction so we can see it.

Hopefully!

I did that once or twice myself, regarding Reichswehr Cavalry memorabilia from before 1933- it was all to no avail, since the seller had put Nazi-related terminology in the article description, which aparently is one of the criteria it takes to trigger the "Nazi Memorabilia Block".

I'm in no way saying it is deliberate, but it sure makes for a good way to keep German bidders off.
