Fakes and hoaxes

What are the most famous fakes and hoaxes relating to WWI memorabilia?

To my mind springs the famous Cockburn-Lange photographs...

I guess you can also add the misidentified photos that are still being referenced.

The one that I always find on the top of my list would be Rodney Gerrard collection of fake fabric samples and documents. The one piece that come to mind would be the Voss report on his downed Trip.

I will also add 99.9% of the things on Ebay that are suppose to be from Manfred von Richthofen the Red Baron. You can buy a strand of his hair in a small test tube with a certificate of authenticity. Wow, what a deal...

Hey! Don't knock it. My eBay-addicted daughter gave me one of those for my birthday a couple years ago so I hung the little plastic dealy from the rear-view mirror of my red & white 71 Impala. Der Rittmeister is my co-pilot!
