Ritterton,
This 162-page August Riedinger Ballonfabrik catalogue currently up on ebay is definitely up your alley if your pockets are deep enough. A bit too steep for me unfortunately.

A DH4 - I think - that I got for Father's Day
Hey folks -
So I got this great little picture for Fathers Day - very cool. When I looked at it, I said, hey, I think this is a DH4...sure looks like it is. Now, I am going to post this with the original image scan. Then the image adjusted in size and contrast with some sharpening. In doing some of that one can see the Oklahoma appear under the exhaust pipe/manifold. Also the stripes on the tail are visible too. Could be an early conversion over to mail runs?
Um - scratch that last line - I can see a cockade on the fuselage - so this is still an active duty bird it appears. Maybe the bombing crew named her Miss Oklahoma???
Love to hear people's ideas....

WHOA,you've been very busy buying this lot of photos and postcards! You got alot of interesting photos in your collection,I congradulate you on that! Its amazing how much details you can get on these old photos by just doing the old scan and zoom process.Im starting a photo collection myself and hope to get some interesting ones.Im going to collect photos and postcards of WWI aviation, battlefields, trench scenes, ect.Im collecting just for the sake of owning something historical and worth keeping.

I have tried to stay within the $5-10 a card range. If I get one, great, if I loose one - well someone else wanted more badly than me and probably will appreciate it just as much. However, I have tried to win a few remarkable cards of late -- but my wallet isn't that deep.
I am also hoping for the stories. The note on the card that can help me get a bit of a lead on who wrote the note - where did they serve - did they survive the war? That has been alot of fun for me.
While I would love to have a few autographs and such of the aces, I am content with finding an interesting image and then finding the story behind the image. Therein lies this History Major's enjoyment.
Best of luck in your searching - Ritterton

I believe this Liberty DH4 is post-war. Fat balloon tires, spare tire under the belly, unarmed and both cockpits padded out with no gun ring.
Robert Karr
DH4s on my mind, but not here yet:
RK’s Pfalzhood - Pfalz, Halberstadt, Nieuport, CAMEL!!!

Central Powers Crash -
Just got this today, along with a great balloon, but I am not on my computer so I can sit and research all of this one. I will say, that I suspect the pilot is actually in this image and may be the one turned inwards to the plane.
German I believe. But,again, I need to sit down and do some research on this one this weekend.

Here is a great find from ebay that I think I got for less than $4 total!
It appears to be a DH4, but that could just be me trying to read/see into the double seater and the wing's riggings.
My question is - post war? Or, maybe a during the war fundraiser/bond event? Lots of kids and such.
Here is a more cropped version and the contrast is played with a bit on this:
