Well, it seems to come with as certificate of authenticity, or a letter explaining its provenance, doesn’t it?
Talking about outrageous items, look at this Sanke card signed by MvR himself. The poor buyer failed to notice the black border around the card, and the cross after Richthofen’s name, meaning that Richthofen was already dead when this card was issued.
This item was sold on June 28, 2008 for $3,766 plus shipping. Ouch!

....making it all the more valuable. Not only issued after his death, but signed after his death as well. Now that's got to be worth $1,000.00 all by itself ! Proof of life after death and not only that, but proof that interaction between the spirit world and this is actually possible....
The mind boggles at the number of questions this answers in one fell swoop...

Hey, would you think if I set out some of my MvR photos, the Rittmeister might find some time in his heavenly schedule to drop by for an autograph?????

Fake Red Baron memorabilia
As the 19th-century American showman P.T. Barnum once said: "There's a sucker born every minute."
And as my old "Cross & Cockade Journal" mentor, the late Dr. Brian Flanagan, noted: "If Richthofen were carrying all of the sounvenirs 'attributed' to him, he must have been been flying a moving van."

Hey, I recently got this from a dealer, who in turn got it from the sale of the state of a well known collector who died last month. It was informed to me that this collector got this memorable document from a cousin of a friend of the Richthofen Family. This is indeed a breathtaking document.
Since it seems that there is plenty of dough around to be carelessly spent, I am willing to sell this extremely important historical document, signed by Manfred von Richthofen himself, which proofs that the great ace was shot down from the ground thus ending with a 90 years controversy for the bargain price of US $3,000. Proof of authenticity: The dealer guaranteed its authenticity. Just look at the provenance of this document.
Moreover, I guarantee that is Richthofen’s signature. I challenge anyone to tell me otherwise.
Anyone interested?
Anyone?

MvR memorabilia
GMU,
Thanks for showing us just how scary the new technology is. How hard could it be to "burn" that signature into an original Sanke card?
Now I remember why I don't bid on that stuff

GMU,
Thanks for sharing that fun document with us! The REALLY funny thing about it is that it's tone and character actually does sound like something Manfred actually would have written/said.

I feel terrible about the chap that bought the forged signature for three grand!
