Integral prop on eBay

Some lucky buyer in Germany, or with a friend there-in, will be the proud owner of this beautiful specimen of a German Integral propeller! Perhaps one of our own? Bob?

Flugzeug/ Orig. Propeller vom Doppeldecker zw. 1914-18. bei eBay.de: Flug- Drachensport (endet 29.08.09 19:00:00 MESZ)

*sigh*

At least I now have my verification of their logo/decal! Wunderbar!

Sijko has it right.

Not sure why it's not a functioning link?

The seller on Ebay describes the propeller as

Quote:
Integralpropeller (Foto) einer Firma "JPW" mit weißem Flügel im Logo
When you look at the Logo the text in the circle is Integral-Propeller * D.R.P. * [D.R.P. stands for Deutsches Reich Patent]. The acronym in the middle is most likely I.P.W. which could stand for Imperial Propellerwerke GmbH at Berlin-Johannisthal or Integral-Propeller-Werke GmbH at Frankfurt am Main. Integral-Propeller-Werke produced its propellers with the marque Chauvière, so the logical bet might be Imperial Propellerwerke. Unfortunately I have never seen the logo of this firm.
I could not find a German propeller firm with the acronym J.S.W.

Source: Lange (1986). Typenhandbuch der deutschen Luftfahrttechnik, page 354.

Another logo of an Integrale propeller patented in Germany (D.R.P) and France (B.S.G.D.G. = Breveté sans garantie du gouvernement). Probably the central white wing was a marque of the Integral / Integrale propeller.

Cheers

Kees,

I believe you are dead-on with the "I.P.W." assessment. Previously, Bob Gardiner shared a photo with me of an identical decal, but this is the first time I have been able pair it with the Eisernes Kreuz decal (and therefore as a German product) with absolute certainty.

Hope it goes to a good home.

Hi Josef,

The propeller - although a rare item - is way too expensive as a starting price I think. Half of it would be reasonable. After the purchasing there is sure a lot of restauration needed, which will also cost. We'll see, no bidders till now.

Cheers

Kees

As I thought there were no bidders at this starting price. The propeller has been relisted at a starting price of EUR 2000 (a difference of EUR 100 with the first try in the auction). This price is still way too high, more realistic would be an auction starting price of EUR 1000, given the condition of this propeller.

Cheers

Kees

Hi Everyone,

JPW indicates the Integral Propeller Werke, originally the German branch of the the French Integrale company of Lucien Chauviere.

Integrale, as it then was, was established at 5 Günderrodestrasse, Frankfurt am Main by Wilhelm Billmann on 9 July 1912 with a branch at 47 Kaiser Wilhelmstrasse, Johannisthal. On 10 August 1916 the Integral Company was dissolved and the director, Billmann, ordered into liquidation.

The former technical designer of the Integral Propeller Works in Frankfurt, Dipl. Ing. Leich, opened a propeller factory in Johannisthal under the company name of the Imperial-Propellerwerke and that he was able to supply customers from 1 September 1916. Other evidence shows that the transformation of the Integral company into the Imperial company was ordered and planned. The Imperial decal was based on the Integral decal.

With kind regards,

Bob
