E Bay can be absurd

I just got off the phone with a nice person from E Bay who told me that the Hermann Goring Sanke card 535 I just listed was being taken down. Now in my mind I wondered, "Are they taking it down because he probably fudged the number of victories he scored in WW1?" Well, no, she said they were taking it down because he's a Nazi. Here is a replay of the rest of the conversation.

Me- "Well he wasn't a Nazi when the postcard was made, Nazi's would come around for another ten years."

E Bay- "Yes, but he would become a Nazi and a Nazi or anything that glorifies Nazism, or hate is not permitted on the site".

Me- " Well I'm looking at your site and there are 57 Hermann Goring items listed. Why are they allowed and mine isn't?"

E Bay- "If you would like to file a complaint about each of them individually our team will review them and see if we should take them down".

Me- "So, postcards of someone who was 20 when the photo was taken, who became a Nazi ten years later are not allowed?"

E Bay- "Yes, that's correct."

Me- "But your site has over 3600 items come up when the name 'Hitler' is placed in your search engine".

E Bay- "Again, that may be true, and our`reviewers are always on the lookout for this type of material. You can help us by filing complaints to stop them."

Me- "Eisenhower stopped them sixty years ago. My point is that you sell thousands of Nazi, WW2, Germany type stuff and you don't seem to have a problem with that".

E Bay- "Hate material is not allowed on E Bay. Is there anything else I can help you with?"

Me- "Yes, can I speak to your supervisor?"

E Bay- "No, I've already given you all of the information you need"

Me- "Ok, I got it. WW1 pilots who became Nazi's are not allowed, right?"

E Bay- "Yes".

Me- " So is the Ernst Udet postcard still up"

E Bay- "Yes, thats fine."

Why not just post it under Sanke Card without the offending Goering name. People looking for sanke cards will still find it and purchase it, and you won't have to bother with such ridiculousness.

Irony of the day...

The Nazis would have LOVED this! In fact, they were among the best at censoring any material that was not approved by The Party.

"We don't sell Nazi stuff." What a laugh.

They're a monument to it.

You should have asked to speak to the person's 'leader' - rather than supervisor - and then added, 'or Fuhrer as they say in Germany'.

You guys are great.

E bay refuses to even acknowledge the scores of factories throughout eastern Europe that are cranking out 'original' Wermacht pots and pans and doo dads. I mean really, are we to believe that there are still unused mess kits being found under beds?

Okay, maybe its just me, but are more and more employees from every major company simply "following policy" than ever before? They always follow every stupid rule their employer lays down. They reduce themselves to slave status - submitting to drug tests, background checks and rectal exams - to get a pathetic dead-end job with a company that doesn't know they exist. And all they can do is quote and defend company policy. They have no ability to think for themselves at all, and worse yet, they lack the will.

Do Americans still know how to rebel? Or have we lost that ability completely?

Jeez! Just look at all the stuff on eBay for Adolf Galland!
The victors writing history is one thing, the stupid is something entirely different!

Hey Bulldog, I ran in to a similar problem earlier this year when I was trying to list a copy of Der Adler - the Luftwaffe's Wartime Magazine (or some such title). I kept rewording the damn book and it kept "kicking out". One time, I was in homestretch, with just a couple hours to go (and up to a hefty bid!) when it was canceled.

arrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Finally I figured it out: it's more about the laws in other countries. What you need to do is offer it only to U.S. buyers. You shouldn't have any problems if you do. Good luck.
