Red Baron Fabric from 425/17 on ebay!
Wow! Whatta find!
RED BARON AIRCRAFT FABRIC - eBay (item 290355821362 end time Oct-09-09 16:25:00 PDT)
To his credit, the seller makes no claims it comes from the actual 425/17; in fact the whole thing is rather vague. Does the great Russell Smith print come with the piece of fabric, or is it just added padding to the ad??

I have a life saver ring with the name "TITANIC" stencilled onto it. Anyone interested?
marc
p.s. It's better than an original, less faded... oops!

Greg,
Love the type face used. Very advanced for 1917. I note the location. Aren't Vintage Aero Fabrics located just outside of Louisville? Is there more to this than meets the eye? Does Ross have the remains of 425/17 stashed away somewhere? Did Russ base his painiting by standing in front of the original airframe? Do I detect a conspiracy of huge proportions?
Regards,
John

I'd buy it but I spent all my money on Richthofen's piano.

"MvR" fabric
Hi guys,
Thanks very much for the link Greg. I have been around eBay long enough to know that "NICE DISPLAY ITEM" means it is a replica, and that the seller is not making any claims that it is original - that's my opinion anyway. Anyone who knows anything about WW1 aeroplane fabric, espcially that from MvR's last triplane would not be fooled by this for half a second!
About a year and a half ago I was given a lead as to where I could find a very significant part of MvR's triplane. Today I finally met the person who has this, but of course it was not part of MvR's triplane! Danged exaggerated, half baked stories! Every body wants to think that they know where a part of his triplane is, me included I guess! haha. Still, what I did find was a very nice piece of four colour lozenge, with a cross on it! . I went to see the airfield today for the first time too, which is being graded. I might have an opportunity to spend some time out there for the next few months or so, and to start building! ... finally!
Cheers,
David.

Richthofen played the piano too? Can you sell it to me? It'll look swell in my collection sitting next to the Baron's red violin, red zither and red tuba! How much do ya want?

Hey! That looks just like the two pieces that I have in my collection!
Does anyone know how many of these were on MvR's tripe?

Hi Rainbase,
You may have missed this earlier thread, and the surreal ebay ad for "Richthofen's grand piano":
Von Richthofen's GRAND PIANO??
The auction is long over, but you can still view it and...be amazed, be very amazed.
