That's a cup awarded to Zeppelin crews for successful ground attacks. Where as the eagle cups are awarded for aerial victories for example. The date on your cup notes a raid on London by LZ-38 on May 31st in 1915. There are other Thor cups noting other Zeppelin raids.

By chance I saved this link from a unrelated search.... It should be helpful.

Tim, sorry that I confused you. The picture that you first saw came from the website that you refer to. Mine has no name or date, but it identical in size and all markings.

Without a name and date I would expect it is either one that was never sold/presented, or it could be one that was made later from the old dies.

Smile WWI Honour Goblet

Hi Jim,
I appreciate your opinion as a possibility. I agree with the idea that it may not have been presented. I find it hard to consider that it would have been made at a later date, by the same silversmith (marks are all identical) in the same size and also of 800 silver, and with the "Chief of Aviation" applied to the base. As I said, it is just a possibility. Collecting Great War aviation material is not a recent invention. It was started during the war and became more avid immediately following it. A maker of such items would likely have found good demand for such things after the war and all he had to do was use his existing tools and dies to make some to sell to the collecting public. 800 silver has always been one of the two standard purities for making silver in Germany (the other commonly used purity is 925) so it would not be unlikely to have one made after the war in 800 silver. But again, I am not saying that this is such a post war production item, only that it is a legitimate possibility that should not be discounted until such a time that something definitive can be discovered about this particular example.
