Hello Everyone,

I am building a 1/48th scale Fokkker DVII and would like to make it with a total lozenge 4 color scheme much like Ltn R Erich Just, Jasta 11. I am using the topside pattern for the fuselage sides and top as well as the tops of the flying surafces, and underside pattern for the bottom of the flying surfaces.

My question is this: What would the underside of the fuselage look like?

I don't know the pilot, but know this:
If it is a very early D.VII and Fokker-built, that underside is "fokker turquoise".
Thereafter, it is either four or five color underside loz., seamed at the low longeron and stitched down the middle seam of the fuselage. Depending on which - Fokker, OAW or Alb - it has an orientation to the loz pattern, as well.

Ltn Justs plane is just an example I was using. The answer I am looking for is, generically speaking, if the plane is an overall lozenge scheme, then what is the underside of the fuselage? You are saying that the underside pattern would be used stitched long the bottom longeron. That makes sense. Is that the "typical" scheme?

loz all the way, center seam along the bottom?
yes.
and in underside colors.
4 or 5 depending on your pilot's a/c sub-contractor or contractor.

The little oddity is there are tapes that run the length of the lower longeron to seam the underside fabric to the top fabric running the length of the side of the fuselage.

a detaily thing.
