Well, it's not WW I again, but it is 'old' and it is something of an oddity in the model kit perspective!

I wish we could get more civvie aircraft models, they provide a break in the constant array of military models.

This model took me one day longer than the Flivver (7 days vs. 6 on the Flivver), mostly due to the complexity of clean up and painting. A big thank you to Kiwi Mark Lightsley for emailing me pix of his 1/1 Super-Ace, as there are no color pix available for the original.

Hi Red ! I certainly agree. The golden age of aviation is largely ignored. What a shame,as this was probably the most exciting era of aviation history. I would like to see a post WW1 section on this website dealing with this era as both are so directly connected.Cheers! John.

Fellers,
IIRC, a few of the guys from the World War One modeling list started a group called "Wings of Peace" for the express purpose of exchanging knowledge, views, etc. having to do with civilian a/c of the Golden Age. Let me know and I'll try and find the link to the group's site.

That sounds interesting. I'd be interested in the link also.

OK Fellers,
Here's part of the e-mail I got from Tracy regarding the group:

"as Carlos mentioned we have quite the active little
email list with a 'between the wars' flavor going that
we've just moved to a Yahoo group. in the next month
or so we will have a website set up with models, etc.
i just wanted to say that all are welcome, but i do
request that you send me an email at:
[email protected] as well as the Yahoo groups
request to join, "

Give him a shout, and I'm sure he can set you straight as to the group's website, etc. Tell him you saw me post it here on the Aerodrome forum, and I'm sure he'll know it's not a spammer. Tracy's a great guy, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the group.

Agreed, the civilian aircraft are sadly overlooked, barring Williams Bros. and Airfix's TriMotor and DC-3.

I've still got a Boeing 247 waiting in the wings.

Frog had some in the old Trailblazers series:

Gypsy Moth
Fokker Trimotor

I've been thinking of getting a Dragon Rapide, and would love to get my hands on one of the MPM DC-2's, but they want so much for the darned things.

Which scale? The Heller kit is still around in 1/72, and AeroClub in 1/48th.

I found the Yahoo group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wingsofpeace/

You can probably just pop in and join, but will have to go through some sort of approval.
