Does anyone know where the inboard edge of the lower aileron, of the dual aileron Jennys, meet the trailing edge of the wing.In other words do these ailerons edges line up vertically. Cheers! John.

Hi John,
If your asking if the upper and lower ailerons line up vertically on the inside edge(I think thats your question), I would say yes. In looking at a 1918 copy of the "A B C of Aviation by Victor Page, there is a section on assembling a Jenny from crate to adjustments. There is a diagram showing main dimensions of a JN4 with upper and lower ailerons both lined up on inside edge. Also ORA's Hisso Jenny is of the dual aileron type and all pix I've seen seem to show the same.
This is the way I cut them into the 48th scale Jenny I'm working on.

Hope this helps,

Salute,
Steve

OK thanks Steve ! One other question, the inter-aileron struts.I have seen them positioned parrallel to each other (old Rhinebeck version) and also forming a V strut fastening at one center point.Do you know which one is correct. Most seem to have the V design. Cheers! John.

Hi John,
Maybe someone has better info but, the majority of the period photos I have of a dual aileron Jenny has parallel inter-aileron struts. It's not many, most being the single aileron ships. I have even seen what sure looks like a cable system instead of links between the ailerons although I could be wrong. I guess with all the cables on a Jenny anyway, what's a few more running around outside the wings? With so many varieties of the Jenny and constant retrofitting repairs, I guess anything goes.
Regarding ORA's Jenny, I was told it started out with two upper wings. Cole shortened one pair to use as lowers giving himself lower ailerons in the process. Since this is the ship I'm modeling, I have plenty of pix of her to go by, but I wouldn't bet any money on whats right or wrong regarding originality.

All the Best!

Salute,
Steve
