I had much touch up of the decals, not only to cover over the out of register white, but to paint over silvering. Alex, the quality of this kit demands better decals. It is by far the easiest and best WW I kit I have assembled this year, I have enjoyed every minute of working with it, except for the decals. I didn't find the adhesive that bad, but the carrier film should lie down better over gloss and not silver. You might try an extra layer of white in printing too, so that this is more opaque. And better registration is also recommended. These are not gripes, just some constructive criticism, because I think you fellows at Roden are answering the call for us WW I lovers better than any company outside of Eduard.
With quality decals Roden could become the best model manufacturer in Eastern Europe. I will be buying another Nie. 28, but the next build, I'm going to wait for an aftermarket sheet of transfers.
Now when are those SE-5s due out?

Yeag, I guess you could say I'. a'bitchin' and a.buildin' Ross. But a kit this good definately deserves better transfers. Roden hit the nail on the head by keeping it simple. I do not care for all those minute parts, separate control surfaces, PE, etc., just give me a basic kit that fits! If I wanted to deal with a multiplicity of parts, I'd build armor, autos, or ships.
So it would not be a bothher to me at all if Roden kept the kits simple like the Nie. 28. I have the Eduard Camel and Lord knows when I'll ever get started on it. With all the parts and PE, modeling becomes a project and no longer fun.
BUT I do like good decals and these were short in about every category a decal has: registration, color opacity, proper adhesion without silvering. They didn't break up, however, a problem Roden decals have suffered in the past.
If the decals had been fine, this kit would be finished and in the showcase. It would also have been a contender at any modeling event I went to. As it is, it is nothing more than a shelf creature. Were I judging, it would go to the back of the table mach schnell because of the inferior decals.

Alex, I just read on another Model Group this morning the RAVE reviews your kits get.
Here, the Ni.28.
The D.VII gets similar accolade.
The SE5a is sure to if you stick to tried, true.
But I hope you are passing the decal comments upstairs as they are consistent, valid.
We love your kits and wish you the very best success.

I'm absolutely quiet about any kind of rave anywhere. When I'm read first review on D.VII in MODELLING MADNESS, I'm was really angry but later I'm unerstood: if reviewer want to see in each new kit of each manufacturer his ideal of the life, his place must been on heaven, really. Only angels have cute wings and nice faces.

I read the same review.
Both persons are at liberty to do as they please.
I built to correct those initial impressions.
You can hardly be asked to continue to produce these fine kits if bad reviews torpedo you.
Go look at this month's Internet Modeler.
Are you getting the substance of this?
Kits: Yes.
Please continue and with our best wishes.
Decals: No, please look into and correct.
Overall Impression: Excellent, but concerned about decals.
You come here, ask about models, this is what we respond.
I'd say that's about the substance of it.

Kit Manufacturers:
If you are going to produce a model kit....do it all the way.
Accurate kit
Good decals
I dislike get an inaccurate kit almost as much as I dislike having the decals come apart in the water before I can apply them.
