Fellow Enthusiasts:
I was wondering if anyone can help me in my attempts to model the aircraft flown by one of my relatives, Robert Birkbeck, who flew for No. 1 Squadron RFC in 1917. He flew Nieuport 17's, I believe, B1582 and B6753. Sadly, I am not in possession of any photographs. However, I note that on the back cover of Windsock Datafile 20, Nieuport 17, there is a color profile of B1690, No. 1 Sq. August 1917. Robert Birkbeck joined the Squadron around mid June 1917. The WS profile has the cowling striped red and white, and B1690 has a large "4" on the fuselage. Can anyone point me in the direction of more info on this Squadron's aircraft? Did they for example all have large numbers such as the "4" of B1690? Any help in this task would be most appreciated.
Cheers,
Andrew Birkbeck

Try C&C Intl. and check the writings of Stewart K. Taylor of Canada. RFC #1 Sqdn flew both Nieu. 17 & 23 types.
