Hello Everyone,

Does anyone have any experience with this manufacturer? I am interested in their 1/28 Vickers machine guns. I am building the old Revell Sopwith Camel and Spad 13 models and wanted to make them special with these parts. Also considering their seat backs. They are on the Rosemont hobby website. If not these, do you have any other recommendations? I know Cooper State also has these parts. Thanks in advance for any help

Paul

I have used FotoCut and they are just your basic PE, and as I recall they are on a black plastic backing as opposed to a fret. Soak it in thinner and the parts float loose.

Just make sure they are in stock before ordering. My understanding is that FotCut ran into some problems with their chemical supplies and are way behind on delivery. I have had some FotoCut on backorder from Rosemont for a couple of months.

I also sent a letter to FotoCut which has not been replied to, so they must be tied up right now. I'm not sure, but the environmental folks may have thrown a monkey wrench into the works by restricting some of the chemicals he was using. Rosemont knows the whole story I think.

While we are at it, might as well discuss spoked wheels on 1/28 or 1/48th. How are Tom Models? Also from Rosemont.

Greetings all; I cut my teeth building detailed parts with Fotocut way back when. They are a product of the Genius Harry Woodman. As many of you know we have the photoetch technology thanks to the ever vigilant rail road modelers. Mr. Woodman took the idea and decided to enhance his scratch building from plastic card stock. When featured in a modeling mag of the time AMS and MMS afflicted modelers unified and went on thre march to build bigger and better pieces. The designs that Fotocut sells are the self same product produced by Mr. Woodman for his work. It has been featured in several mags but finely done in R. Rimell's Windsock. Tom's Modelworks pieces are done just as high in quality. When it come to the wheels from both companies always use a clear disc of plastic center to build on. The brass is rigid but will buckle under the weight of most WWI kits with any roll forward or back pressure and I mean 'any'. The heavier the kit the sooner it will buckle without the clear center disc. I like both but with Tom's you get what you need as his pieces are assorted British, French and German. They are sorted further under each of those catagories by guns, wheels interior & facade pieces. Tom's stuff is readily available through him, Rosemont or Squadron mail order.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm delighted to see you post in repsponse to one of my questions. I've drawn a lot of inspiration from the models of yours I've seen.
