Gentlemen,
Have any of you seen the CMK 1/72 Dolphin first hand? I have very much wanted a Dolphin in the CHALLENGING SCALE but at $30+ I don't want to buy a pig in a poke.
Thanks,
Terry

Hello Terry!
I'm never seen CMK Dolphin, but I'm have 1/72 Tom-M kit, released in 2001 or 2002. This is a not quality, like Ardpol, but very reasonable and, in all, accurate resin kit. No decals, very primitive box and instruction sheet.

Terry,
I have the CMK Dolphin in front of me right now, and itīs a really nice kit, just like the other CMK resin kits I have.
I think itīs one of their older kits, but detail is still very good overall, thin trailing edges and Iīve been told by a friend that it builds into a very realistic looking model. Accuracy seems to be pretty good overall when compared to the drawings in DF 54, the wings and tailplane are off by about 1 mm, but I wouldnīt call that critical. Only real drawback is the lack of decals.
So unless Roden or Eduard come to our rescue any time soon (which would be a surprise to me) Iīd say go get it. I seem to recall I got mine here at the local hobby shop for around 30DM/15 Euros a couple of years ago, where are you planning to get yours from?!? Have prices really gone up that much recently on those CMK kits?
Best regards,
Joern

Is it similar to the old Veedat kits mold?

Sorry, but I donīt have the Veeday kit for comparison. I did see the old Pegasus kit at the shop back when I bought my Czechmaster kit years ago, and I remember that the resin kit seemed better detailed than the Pegasus offering.
Iīm pleased to say that the Czechmaster kit is still available at the shop where I bought mine, but the prices really have gone up a little in recent years it seems:
Czechmaster kits available from Classic Plane in Germany
Come to think about it, itīs strange that an important type such as the Dolphin seems to have been completely overlooked by manufacturers of injection-moulded kits.
Best regards,
Joern

Joern,
Squadron Mail Order is offering it for $30.95 plus $5.00 shipping. That's why I balked.
Best regards,
Terry
