I was thinking of locating one of these for my 19 squadron collection. Looks like the Blue Max kit may be a better investment?

Bet you get better kit support and easier access to replacement parts from Eric Hight (CSM) than BM!

I wouldn't begin to question the service and support of CSM! My question is which kit gives a good, not Master, builder the best chance for success?

I dont know about CSM's kit as I haven't build it, but I did build the Blue Max kit, and its a "bugger" to build.
Due to Blue Max 's lack of proper instructions (as usual), I had to fiddle a long time trying to get the engine in and the fuselage to close properly. You have to glue the cylinders head covers from the exhaust sides, turning the engine slightly to be able to glue them in - its a good thing that I didnt' glue the engine in the fuselage or I wouldnt' have been able to do it.
The top wing is a "bugger" to align properly. There are 4 metal supports that glue inside the fuselage that holds up the top wing. Asd usual with Blue Max kits, no alignment marks inside the cockpit to show where they go. Trial and error is the best thing here! Make sure that the wing supports are absolutely level between them or you will have a "drooping" wing.
All in all, not an easy built, but you dont have to be a Master modeler to build it. It just requires time and patience.

Dolphin kits generally appear to be a bugger to build. This is Sandy Adam's rendition of the Waldo Dolphin. I mastered this kit and about a dozen of them were produced in my garden shed. Even I will say it was only marginally buildable and this was the kit which finally persuaded me not to produce any more. So I am hugely grateful that someone of Sandy's ability was able to make such a fine fist one of them.

So it seems that it is 6 of one 1/2 dozen of another? I guess I will go with whatever I can find and afford at the time I am ready!

If the CSM Dolphin is a 6 then the BM has got to be a 3.

I bought a BM one here. Got it for a good price. If it takes more work that the CSM one I am not worried. When one is on a budget length of time to build a kit means nothing. B)

I agree Ross! As much as I would love to build the CSM Dolphin kit, and their SE, they are financially out of reach for me at this time. So if I can get a bargain on a BM Dolphin I will build it.
