WELL - ask & thou shalt receive! I sincerely appreciate all of the feedback. Dan - that was about as thorough of an answer as one could ask for. Naturally - I have a few more questions though for clarification:

First for Steve Lawson: where did you find the second photo you've posted here? That's one that I've not seen before. Would like to know the book title and ISBN number please.

The rest for Dan:
1) I'm understanding what you wrote to mean that they re-established the latter style Balkenkruez on BOTH sides of the lower wing - same as had been marked with the earlier Eisenkruez? Do you by chance have access to any unpublished photo that can be posted here so we could have a look? Otherwise I'm curious as to how that conclusion was arrived at as opposed to the original cross on the upper side of the lower wing not having simply been painted out with olive paint?
2) I'm also understanding that the tail plane markings (black & white) to be applied to the lower side of the horizontal stabilizer. What are your feelings as to whether the color(s) would have been carried to the lower portion of the fuselage? I'm assuming the ground crew probably raised the tail of the aircrafts up on a saw horse or trestle to do any maintenance or painting to the underside tail area. It doesn't seem far fetched to paint the underside of the fuselage. Question is whether it was ever seen as a general practice or not.
3) Finally - as to what you describe regarding the tri-color fuselage stripe - since you make no mention as to whether it carries to the lower surface of the fuselage - is that to suggest that it likely did not? I realize it may be simply a matter of opinion but I'm still curious as to what yours would be on that point.

Thanks again to all for your help. Now I'm going to spend labor day weekend stripping and repainting some wing assemblies . . .

There are some differences between my model and the current way of thinking regarding the colours and markings. When I built this model it was based on the way of thinking of that time period.

The differences were:

the red stripes on the top surface of the top wing were not there.
Confirmed by photo you posted.

The second photo you posted shows the red stripes on the bottom of the top wing though.

By early April 1918 ,the black rudder outline was also no longer present.
Also confirmed by the first photo.

In May 1918 this unit's triplane crosses were again modified to conform with the 1:4 ratio directed by Kogenluft. Imrie notes the tailplane cross was still visible at this time.

The profile by Harry Dempsey in" Fokker Dr.1 Aces of World War 1" also differs in that he has depicted the interplane struts, landing gear struts as in turquoise blue. The cabane struts are depicted as in black and white.

I am also leaning towards much greener finishes on Fokker triplanes. I personally really like the new colour triplane profiles by Ray Rimmel in "Jagdstaffel 5 " vol 2.
