The top pic of the rear of the hangar is where I will start adding the bits and pieces in order to finish the outside groundwork. But just before starting that I have a few areas on the engine shop exterior to finish ,especially the roof and supporting posts as you can see in the bottom pic.
Once the exterior is finished I will then go back inside the hangar and permanently fix Jenny and the other stuff to the hangar floor.

I posted this pic taken awhile ago in order to give you guys an idea of where I am going with the main hangar furnishings. While my first 2 dioramas were somewhat crowded affairs with things all over the place,I plan to keep this area somewhat orderly so that the emphasis will be on Jenny and the figures which are the main story line. For junk you will have to see the shops and the outside where there will be plenty to keep the eye busy.Other than a little junk around the basketcase Jenny being dismantled for parts ,I will try to leave this area pretty clean and neat(for an old hangar) I felt that I could get away with this secondary "basketcase"storyline without it being too distractive from the main "Memories of Flight School" theme.
Speaking about the title a little question for you English majors out there .Which is more correct Flight School or Flying School ? or is either quite acceptable?

Finishing the Lean-to.
I have changed my mind(so what else is new??)and have decided to work on the lean-to groundcover module first. No special reason for this other than I need something a little more interesting to work on other than sand and making water puddles.
I decided to turn the Mercedes showcar around 180 deg and have it facing the other way, mostly because I find it more interesting that way, and the engine is better viewed from this angle.Because the car is being prepared for winter storage after the airshow season ,the ramp up to the loading dock has been removed till spring.

I was talking to the curator at the Billy Bishop Museum in Owen Sound Ontario recently and she confirmed with me that he could have been in the southern Ontario region in the mid 20's and at Malton airport in particular. It seems that after the war he operated a small airline called the "Bishop-Barker airline or airways".They flew a regular run up to cottage country north of Toronto between 1920-22 using Curtiss HS 216 flying boats. After a few prangs they decided they had had enough.Bishop was injured in one of these accidents and gave up flying for a time.
Therefore in keeping with my fantasy story line of the "Memories of Flying School"(note the changed from "flight") it seems that the event depicted in the diorama could well have happened.I don't know if Billy and Eddie R. even knew each other at this time or if Eddie was anywhere close to Canada but I would like to identify (if possible) both pilots in my diorama.
