correction to entry #238
The Wright Flyer that Orville supervised the building of in 1947 was a replica of Flyer #3 that is now in the museum at Dayton.
If I decide to go with the wind-tunnel idea ,I think that I will do version #3 as it is not often done in model form, and was as Orville said ,the first practical aircraft.Flyer 2 was basically a copy of Flyer 1 but Flyer 3 has many major modifications and will be more of a challenge to build.
Sorry about the misinformation but I had lost my research notes and only found them today ,exactly where I had left them ,the last time I had left them there.Geez,I must be getting older than I thought. Cheers! John.

Ox5
The actuating spring/housing&Rocker arm installation went very well, quickly and easly as the advertisers like to say.I used small amounts of super-thin CA for joining the parts.
Fig.5-9 Water inlet piping installed using short pieces of flex tubing and kit supplied piping elbows to connect up the water pump.
Fig.5-10 Water outlet piping .I used copper wire as fake tubing between pipe and intake manifold.Flex tube to radiator will be installed later.
Fig.5-12 Exhaust manifolds. This type of exhaust collector was not on the OX5 installed on the Canuck which had short straight stacks instead.(Like the Spit)I still havent completely resolved the carb heat problem. On the JN4D OX5 installation the carb heat was bleed directly off the exhaust manifold to the carburetor.
Fig.5-13 Ignition wiring. For the fake fibre tube I used 25mm long piece of 1/16th walnut dowel colored with pastels. The wiring was done with steel wire painted black with small pieces of black telephone wire plastic tubing slipped over the end and attached to the spark plugs. The exact positioning of the fake fibre tube is in question. Some pics I have show it strapped to the intake manifold and others seem to place it higher up above the manifold.
Next step is to actually install the engine on the bearers and hook up the Radiator assembly to be cont.....

Ignition wiring update
I just found a good pic of the ignition wiring fibre tube bracket that holds the tube to the manifold.Go to www.vintageaviation.org go to Canuck project history, then Jan31,2004.They show the ignition wiring as orange in color but for scale considerations I will stick with the black as I dont want any individual part of the engine to stand out. to be cont......

Wright Flyer 3
I have so far found 1 pic of the flyer being restored in a workshop in 1947 under the supervision of Orville at www.wright-brothers.org This is my second choice of subject matter for the next diorama. After doing 2 1/2 hangar type scenes the well may be getting a little dry.The workshop idea has a lot going for it if I can find more pics.So that is my choice ,do something totally different with the modern windtunnel idea or the workshop.I will continue to research both ideas for now. There really is no rush as I cant see myself starting this new project for another year or so.
My purpose in keeping you guys informed of all this, is to give you some idea of where my ideas come from.In this case it was 2 different pics. One in a book and the other pulled off the internet.Artists are visual,Ideas are everywhere ,just keep yourself open for something new.Good dioramas require research, research, and more research.Cheers! John.

This engine is amazing. It could be marketed as a kit in it's own right.
