This is the fuselage side which is the first assembly to be built on the building board.Part CAF 04 will not be installed at this time as it is important that both sides of the fuselage line up correctly and adjustments can better be made later .

The plans are incorrect .I guess if I had built the wings first I would have noted this before now.The enlarged hole is to compensate for the dihedral of the spars in the lower wing assembly where they join the fuselage at the wing root.

A note on jigs!
This is the first time that the manufacturer has not supplied a laser cut jig for assembling the fuselage.Although not completely necessary ,it was a good place to start(especially for a beginner)The kit does supply drawings for a few jigs but you must build your own.I think that this is a step backward for first time modelers who may have been expecting that everything was in the box.On the plus side, it is clearly stated in the instruction manual available on their website, that "jig parts are supplied by the modeler".They do however supply what looks like a nice metal stand that can be rotated when working on the basic fuselage.
Win some,lose some, I guess!

Pics and Figs!
Please note:for those who may want to save some of these pics and figs ,a lot of these postings are only temporary and will be removed from my photobucket from time to time, as I am limited to 1000 pics.Eventually I plan to have only some selected pics ,of mostly finished dioramas in my photobucket. When I remove pics from my photobucket they will be removed from this website as well.
***Plastic modelers may find some of the info here good for scratchbuilding their interiors and cockpit areas!***

Fuselage longerons
The longerons are cut a little oversize and attached to the plan with pins.I usually lightly sand the basswood to remove the fuzz, dunk the piece in laquer ,let it dry a little and then re-sand any remaining fuzz. There is a slight variation in the wood grain and texture,so select which side you want facing out.
The vertical pieces I cut a little oversize as well and then slowly sand them back for a snug fit.Don't be in too much of a rush, you may have to sand and fit a few times to get the right fit.Do not allow the longerons to be distorted by force fitting these pieces.I use super thin superglue ,put on drop by drop with a large needle that has been dunked into the glue.I wick up any excess with a small rolled up piece of paper towel.
