HOW TO BUILD AIRCRAFT DIORAMAS

The crated tail assembly will go here.I plan to leave it open but have a few tarps handy ready for covering.

One wing crate is built.I placed the center section in front to give a idea of how it will look with half a wing exposed on the final crate.
I don't think that I will place any of the wings on the Ford as it looks like it is just too much.Maybe he will just have to make two trips!!

One wing crate is built and the center section crate is finished but will be left open for viewing.(the plywood top will be placed off to one side)The other three wing crates will be leaned up against the first one.I think that this will be enough for the viewer to get an idea of how they were built .To do a bunch of wings just to be left outdoors in the open ,adds nothing to the dioramas storyline and seems unnecessary.

Now for a real change of pace,the horse or the seated figures.
The horse area will include more than just the animal,there will be a hitching post,a watering tub , a sign or two and maybe even a little horse s--t. to model.Any suggestions?
The seated figures were originally destined for the Ford T but the story has changed a bit.I think that the best thing to do is put them on coffee(tea?)or lunch break.(although the clock in the office would suggest afternoon tea)That way I don't have to leave the scene empty of figures but at the same time it will help to explain the lack of human activity around the Camel /Ford piece.
All the figures in this diorama are in a somewhat relaxed state so as not to draw too much undue attention.

There is a dollhouse show coming soon to this area so it would be a great time to pick up a teapot or a themos or two for the party.What I usually do in a case like this is bring with me a 1/16th clenched hand to check for scale.Often dollhouse stuff is in 1/16th scale or very close to it.

Seated figures parts and pieces.A small xacto blade with a #11 blade and a sanding stick is about all I use for this operation.
The resin carves like a hard wood except it is much easier to work with as there is no grain or tendency to split.If using power tools watch out for the toxic resin dust.
