Smile

Upon completion of this "Keepers of the Flame" project I plan to organize this thread into a more comprehensive book -like form ,concentrating upon the order of build ,using both text and pictures in their proper sequence.I will permanently post an album of pics of this diorama under construction.
Because I am limited to a 1,000 pics on my photobucket album, I have had to on occasion delete some of the older pics. Some of you have expressed to me that you find it frustrating searching for something only to find it has been deleted.
I agree!
The new more book-like thread will concentrate more on the build itself rather than the JohnReid philosophy of art and other ramblings.Tips and techniques will be put in its proper section for easier reference.
When I started this thread I had no idea that it would grow to the size that it has ,so for those interested please be patient with the present format for awhile.Cheers! John.

Question Making slow progress!

These are the chimney support wires made from black painted wire that I think florists use. After they are tighten from below they will become straight again.I have yet to put a patch where the chimney pokes through the roof . Then it is on to the weathering. Any pics that you guys might have of old rusty metal chimneys would be welcome.
Would any electricians out there know how to secure a screw in type bulb so that it won't come loose from the socket? The hangar lighting is all done with very small bulb and socket doll house bulbs that tend to come loose with even the slightest vibration.

Instead of trying to sand the dowel smooth,I simply used a plastic tube over the dowel ,lightly sanded it and painted it to look like metal.

Finishing the front!

This is the area to be worked upon next! The light above the sign will be made like the other outdoor fixtures, from modified X-mas bells. The hangar doors overhang and the air vent grating have yet to be finished.
