Oh by the way,I used a small sharp needle to pick off the paint chips one by one.I think that I will use this peeling paint more at the bottom of the siding and the horizontal pattern farther up the wall just to give it a little more interest.I will experiment a bit and see if I can add color to the white and maybe thin it out a bit with water for easier application to the surface. This stuff does come in a variety of colors as well as a clear for an ice like finish.

Lightbulb

Meanwhile over on the Art Forum I am planning the following......

Model Sculpture,An Artistic Approach.
I am planning something a little different.Something that I haven't seen anywhere before(at least not in the modeling world),something that has been bugging me for a long time and now maybe at age 70 I will finally finish.
About 15 years ago I modeled a full size Peregrine Falcon as a decorative art piece, lost interest and put it aside. There it has sat all this time in my studio just looking at me but I have never been able to bring myself to finish it ,until now.
I can't draw worth a damn ( but I never went to art school either), so I can't draw you a picture of what I have in mind.
What it will be is a culmination of all that I have learned over a lifetime of doing this stuff.
I want to incorporate a 3D, 1/10th scale model airplane(Bleriot) and a full scale bird sculpture together into a storytelling composition ,that will only be temporarily be brought together to make a 2D piece. The 2D pics will be shot from different angles using different lighting techniques and that will be the finished art piece.Using all the unlimited tools available to me today to modify pics this should be lots of fun. When I am finished ,the bird and the model will be either destroyed or given away as props.Much like in the movies the only thing left will be the film itself, capturing but a moment in time.

White siding with black trim.
Note:
The black crackle surface would also make for a great burned wood effect.

There also a clear type that makes great cracked ice. This would be especially nice for wing de-icer boots.(you older guys will know what I mean)

After coming full circle with the crackle stuff,I am back to my original basic idea.A white surface paint over raw pastel colored wood seems to look the best. The white as it ages gets bleached even lighter by the sun so just a little subtle weathering with pastels should do the trick.
Anyway,I will do a few boards and put them up to see how it looks.

The underlying wood color can vary from almost black to a raw wood color depending upon how much rotting is going on underneath the painted
surface.

The paint flaking chips can vary from very small to huge.

The camera lens has distorted this pic but these are the colors I am planning on.An old faded yellow or off white door with blue trim.It is important that I use only subtle colors here as I don't want to draw any attention away from the airplane.
