Minicraft
I work a lot in 1/144 scale due to my small, humble abode. Minicraft has an excellent selection in this scale but I haven't seen them cover any WW 1 subjects yet. From my moniker you might gather that I do indeed bash whatever I want from the standard 1/144 scale kits. I recently bashed a Lockheed Vega from Minicraft's 1/144 Grumman Avenger. I find it much easier to bash in 1/144 than 1/72. Here's a site that might help you find what you seek. Although I have to admit I haven't ordered anything from it:

Hope this helps!

Syd,
This thread from a while back will help answer your questions:
Rigging in 1/144th scale
Specifically this bit of wisdom:

As a matter of fact, there are some 1/144 WW I kits available. Try Hobbyshop.cz for a listing. They take an age but are very nice and the tiny resin models are moderately priced and appear pretty accurate.

I believe the kits the poster is talking about are SRAM kits.
This thread has even more answers:
Does anybody use 1:144 scale?
Also check out Skytrex world of scaled models. Specifically, this page: Red Eagle 1:144 Scale WWI Aircraft
http://www.skytrex.com/acatalog/Onli...craft_274.html

Hello Syd1
You might also like to try out Reviresco as well:
www.tin-soldier.com
John who owns the above make a large and growing range of WW1 subjects including a Voision L type 3 ! no mean feat in 1/144!
This is the scale I almost exclusively work in and my opinion is the Reviresco kits are greatly superior to the humble Skytrex offerings. Don't be influenced by the photo's on the site johns kits are better than his photography.

Hey Yeoman,
That's a nice endorsement. Are you the one who posted some photos of sets of very nice 1/144 WWI planes used for playing Blue Max?
If so, they looked great!
If not, would you be willing to post some photos of your work?
Regards,

Hi Lufbery
Alas that was Flyxwire who posted the pics of the wargame aircraft !
I don't yet have a camera to post images of mine. Perhaps if I am good, at Crimbo, Santa may help out
Which, if any manufacturers do you use for 1/144?
Cheers!
Nick.

Nick,
I've built a paper 1/144 model that was scaled down from a Fiddler's Green paper kit. I even rigged it with stretched sprue. I did it sort of as a proof of concept and it turned out pretty well. I bought their Bristol Figter and Dr.1, shrank them down in Photoshop, but haven't glued them together yet. My idea was to use them for Blue Max, but they may be too fragile.
Regards,

Peter,
You'll have to let us know what you think of the kits.
