So I got my Aeroclub scarff ring and guns...
... and they're beautiful!
In 1/72 scale, they look like perfect little gems.
I bought two, single-gun mounts. One goes in front of the cockpit on the MB-2 bomber I'm building, and one goes behind it. The guns and Scarff rings that come with the kit are grossly over-scale, and the new ones look much better.
One of the consequences of the kit's parts being larger than the replacement parts is that the opening for the gunners' cockpits are too large by just a smidgen for the new rings to fit well.
So, in a flash of brilliance, I bought some plastic strip stock .10" wide. I forget the thickness, but when wrapped in a spiral three times, it is just thick enough to fill the cockpit openings enough to provide a good seat for the Scarff rings. A very little bit of putty and everything looks great!
Regards,

Hey Luf!
Only ones I know of are on a Aeroclub '48 RE 8 - and they're pretty nice.
They get bent and need some finesse to come into line again.
But finished well.
So.
Recommended??
Some folks scratch their scariffs but I don't have that kind of skill..
Good job on the mod.

Yup, highly recommended.
The detail looks very good on all three parts -- the ring, the elevation thingy, and the gun. Everything dry-fits well, and nothing was bent out of shape.

Liberty engines for the Martin
Hi all,
maybe this could be interesting for you: correct resin engines and nacelles for Martin MB2 are being made for the Glencoe kit. Probably available in winter..

Marcel,
I got your private message on this topic, but have been too busy to respond until now.
Do you know any more details that you'd be willing to share? Who will make the parts and who will distribute them? How much will they cost?
The idea of buying them is very tempting...
Regards,

MB-2 Engine Details
It figures they'd come out with a resin detail set for the MB-2 Liberties since I just fabricated the exhausts from old sprue. I told my co-workers down at the auto parts shop I made some big a** Walker pipes for my bomber.
Pic attached.

P.S. I got the idea for the stripey props from the kinds folks of this Forum. Since I was using the regular brown in my war games scheme, I used rust and dark tan and I really like the look. Thanks, Forumites!

Hi chaps, I will try to explain the situation: I like "between the wars" planes and one of my friends is a fan of all US planes with props. He is an owner of Plus Model Company (nothing for us in fact, they make 1/35 AFV`s in resin with PE parts) and I work for them - a part time job. We both purchased the Glencoe kit and were not happy with the engines/nacelles. So Mr. Plus Model asked somebody to make the models of the Liberties etc. to make moulds. These models are nearly ready, but at this time I do not know about any progress. I will check it and I will keep you all informed. The set will probably be distributed 1/ directly by Plus Model or 2/ by a company in the U.S.A. which stock Plus Model or (and you could help here) 3/ through a company which may be interested in this product. I have no idea about the price, discounts etc. to this time.
As soon as I know anything I will add it to the forum.
Marcel

Marcel,
Thanks for the additional information. I'm hoping to wrap up my build before the first of the year, but I haven't gotten to the engines yet either. So, when you know more, I'd be interested in knowing more too.
Regards,

He he. I love my wife.
I told her about the new engines and she said I should definitely get them when they're available.
