Albatros D.Va by Model Airways on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WD1V
Item number: 5934599876

I came across this while surfing on Ebay. If I had the time I would buy this for myself. It is an outstanding looking kit.

Salute!

That is a great deal RAGIII. Like I said, if I only had the time. I am surprised some one hasn't snapped it up at the price of $40.00.

It is the same kit as the one on Ebay only marketed under a different name. The text description is identical. I believe Model Airways in the Philipines is the manufacturer. At least they show photos on their web site of making these kits.

Salute!

Go on, Taz - take the plunge. Heck, for $40 I'd buy it from RAGIII and let it sit on the shelf until I had some time.

Incidentally, if you're not aware of it the workshop diorama featured on the eBay page is the work of our own John Reid.

Angry

The Model Expo / Model Airways Alb. D.Va builds into an impressive model ... except there's not one thing about it that's accurate. Our little group discussed it at length and decided that it was "inspired" more by Wylam than Thelan.
The laser cut pieces are gorgeous (though inaccurate), but the white metal parts (aside from bearing scant resemblance to any part that ever flew on an Albatros) are poorly cast. And, there are none of the distinctive sheet metal panels provided, nor is the spinner, for that matter.

Maybe just me, but for the major bucks I plunked down, I expected more than a cartoon.

Had it, built it, tossed it.

Sometimes I wonder about Ebay and their prices.the manufacturer sells this kit for $169.99 U.S. No bargain there! But for 40 bucks, now thats a deal.

I agree with silverback that in some areas the kit leaves a lot to be desired.I am sure that the rivet counters amoung us could easily bring it up to a fine level with a little scratchbuilding. As a starter kit for someone wanting to get into a new genre or for someone like me who mainly wants a presentable piece that looks good in a diorama I think it is worth the money.I guess its all in what you want to achieve.Personally I would rather do a bit of scratchbuilding than have to pay a lot more money for perfection. Cheers! John. P.S. the Jenny kit is their best yet ,as far as I am concerned ,but then it costs more too!
