Fokker Triplan DR-1

I need some help in determining the source and history of this wire frame, cloth covered model.

I built models starting about 1938 at a young age. I do remember rubber powered wire frame silk covered models from japan. I don't have any idea of the orgin of this one.

My guess is that the ship is 1920s vintage. The base seems off some how.
The prop is plastic and the cowling is wood. It seems that a lower plaque is missing on the base.

The photo of Baron Von Richthofen is not a half tone but seems to be a lithograph. This indicates a 1920s possibility.

I would hope that this is a German production relating to the Baron.

Chances are that the ship was home built and added to a base to produce a nice item complimenting the Baron.

I appreciate any help in this matter.

Thank You:

Gene Schulte.

May I suggest going to the web and Goggle on Model Airplane kits? There are several collectors out there that may be able to tell you the exact information you are seeking. The wire framing is very interesting. Is the covering silk or another fabric?

Stephen: I appreciate the direction, so far I will contact one that has possibilitys.

The fabric onthe model is not silk. I believe it might be a fine cotton. It might be a linnin or flax. They are stiff, I believe silk would be more flexible.
