Question Prieur Rockets details

Okay, I've read the previous posts on the forum dealing with this subject. Now I have a few questions and hope someone can answer them.

1. Regarding the wiring, would there be just one main wire or a wire for each individual rocket running from base of strut along the lower wing to the cockpit?
2. Did the wiring enter the cockpit through a hole in the fuselage or did it extend upwards over the side and into the cockpit?
3. Suggested colour for wiring (insulated)?
4. Photo of Nieuport FOXTROT, noticed a light coloured square panel section on lower wing centered at base of wing strut - was this a sheet of metal/aluminum added for protection when rockets fired or perhaps to strengthen the wing? Was this also found underneath top wing?
5. When armed, did the rocket extend out the back end of the hollow steel tube?
Thanks in advance.

Jack

Jack,
This is just off the top of my head, but:
-Yes, that is a thin sheet metal panel on the lower wing. I do not know if one was present on the underside of the top wing.
-I do not think that the rocket extended out the back of the tube.

I used to have information on the wiring and how it entered the fuselage, but I can't remember where I put it. Sorry! Hopefully, some other member will have that for you.

HTH,

Warren

Hello

Hi Jack,

Answers to your questions, are in the french book " the air war of two aces" René Dorme & Joseph Guiget by Marc Chassard. They are several pages, photos and drawings about these rocket....

Unfortunatly, I don't know how to send you these... exept if you send me your mail adress, I will do a scan of these...and mail you as attached files..

Maybe some friends of the Drome, have this book and would be able to place these images on the forum....Sorry, myself I don't know how to do.....

Best regards.
Philippe

hey Philippe, that would be great if you could email some scans from that book! I've tried locating it on some of the hobby sites and the obvious Amazon.com, but no luck. Check this site first http://www.ctie.monash.edu.au/hargrave/le_prieur.html so you don't waste time on sending something I already found. Thanks again!

Thumbs up The Air War of Two Aces ( Dorme and Guiget )

Hi Friends
I received several private messages/mails from forumistes interested by this book, and as I can't scan all the book , you will find herewith the adress of french editor, this book is a "must" with more 200 pages, a lot of photos, ( one of the Jean Chaput Ni 17 in colors...true ) technical designs, profiles etc.... and.. this book is bi-lingues french and english, texts and captions....very similar to a good Schiffer book.
I spoke with Karen and I suggest her to contact SQUADRON.....
Contact Karen from me ( don't be anxious, I don't take % )

I remember just before this book came out there was a website where you could order it. I wanted to get a copy, but lost the web address in a PC crash.

That would be interesting ! Was the book in English or French ?

And think of all the modellers who would have to redo their models.

Just think about it....rigging AND wires !!!!!
