My Strutter, plus a little more...
This is the Flashback Strutter. Truly a joy to build--everything fit, with very little work involved. The cockpit is really nice, but of course I didn't take pics before I assembled the upper wing. Even though some folks said the color should be aluminum, I found enough references to go with the yellow--Polly Scale Catwhisker Yellow, BTW. Can't say enough about the kit. I made a foray into the world of turnbuckles by making my own for the cabane strut rigging connections from copper wire wrapped around a #80 drill shaft. Worked fine. I used the same for the stabilizer rig along the fuselage sides. Lots of fun, and it took me over a week!
The little scene I call, "The Strutter and her Escort" . The N.11 I've shown. The Ford is from RPG, and is not complete, to give it a "farmyard" feel. The figures are form Omega and the bottles are from Attack Resin and the barrel is from a model ship kit. All the rest is scratch. I have just over a month before I go travelling, so I'll try to get in one or two more builds.
From the Factory floor,
John Masters

Good job John, I may have to try the copper wire bit if my what I presently have planned does not work out. I may have to look into some Omega figures.

Excellent build John! You are quite a craftsman! I like that "cat's whisker" yellow you used and I enjoyed your little diorama immensely (especially the tiny bottles on the table). Thanks for sharing the pics and best of luck on making Scout Pilot or - dare I say it - Forum Ace.
All the best,
Brian da Basher
P.S. I celebrated my recent Forum promotion with a virtual binge in the virtual Officers' Mess. Fortunately, the hangover was virtual too.

Thanks boys. When I was a boy my father and I built a model railroad complete with buildings, scenery, etc...I owe what diorama skills I have to him and that earlier endeavour. "Cat Whisker Yellow" is a railroad color, actually, and it seems to fit (at least in my mind) for some of the "eggy" doped linen shades.
Warren--with what are you experimenting? I'm turning my sights to some Central Powers builds and I don't think the DURAS method is going to work as well.
I'd be happy to just be a Scout, Brian. I'm taking Jan Olieslager's lead and not claiming all my kills. Truthfully, I've learned everything so far from you guys and those damned pics Ross keeps posting.
Thanks from The Factory on the hill,
John

Cool! Another built French Strutter. Way too cool.
Now I need to stop procrastinating on mine, and get it finished <sigh>.
Excellent job, even if it is in CDL.

Modeler's License
John, is the Esc 3 scheme on the Nieuport modeler's license, or is there a reference? Nice model by the way. Got to try one of these diorama thingummies......one of these days.
