Amazing work. I'm always amazed at the care and dedication that us builders have for our "hobby". IMHO, the journey is the point, not the destination. Happy building!

Some progress on the Roland project

Hello Guys!

Post an update on my Roland diorama. Most of the major part on the plane is now finished, but as you can see a lot of work stil remain! My next step is to paint the interior and engine, seal it and start on all the small details on the outside. I have also start planning the lay out of the diorama, the base is first made in foam (flower stuff) and is later covered with the usual stuff like sculpamold, plaster. I always think this is one of the funniest part of making dioramas so I can't wait to the end
The motor bike is an Douglas 1913 and the kit is Scale Link. I changed a lot of the parts in the kit like the wheels, suspensions and soldered a new frame. The figures are also in the planning stage, four of them, two brits and two germans. They will be scratchbuilded to fit the story of the diorama.

Cheers
Per Olav

Update on the figures and interior

Hello Guys

A new update on my Roland diorama. Have started on the figures this week, its in a very early stage yet but I hope you get the pictures of the story. The heads are by hornet and the green stuff is Duro epoxy putty, the same stuff I'm gonna use for the uniforms. The interior is also finished, I used the Datrafile book and the Eduard 1/48 kit as reference. My interior is not 100 % right but I use some "artistic lisence" since the plane is a part of a diorama and not a stand alone model.

Cheers
Per Olav

Looking good Per! You are a master of the craft! I really liked the look of the bike. As for taking some "artistic license" with the Roland's interior, I'm all for it! Thanks for sharing pics of your progress with us.

Thanks for posting your pics Per. Your photography is as good as your modelling! I like the interior work very much - it gives me some ideas for my 1/72 model.
Happy modelling

I already loved your Mine dog diorama, Per.

This looks like a very good idea and I hope for more picture updates.
What you made out of the Scale Link bike is impressive.

The only bad thing is that the beautiful Roland form was ruined for the diorama idea

Per,

That's fantastic work! Thanks for posting your progress photos, and please keep us updated as you go along.

The site you found with instructions for scratbuilding wings was probably the WWI Modeler site ( www.wwimodeler.com ) run by Peter Leonard who posts on this forum as PeterL.

Regards,
