Question the engine?

Would anyone comment on:

-this particular engine depiction? (it's below Chris Gannon's fine standards)
-what it would take to reverse this kit to a D.III or D.II?


The engine really confuses... ..comparing to the really fine Monosoupape that accompanied the DH-2 or the Good Enough Merc that showed up with the Pfalz D.12 -

not being negative - have really looked forward to this kit - just wondering what y'all think...
