Hi-Tech VOISIN 10 LAR is HERE !

Just arrived on the left coast the 1/48 Voisin 10. Well worth the wait, the engine is great in resin. This is, as accurately put by Philippe in his instructions..."the faint hearted may curse me,but the Voision 10 LAR will be a source of pride to any hobbist when completed". Definitely not a shake and bake kit, mch to do on this one. THANKS Philippe ( eagerly await the 1/32 Alb DVa now !!!)

I asked some questions on this kit in a March thread. I agree that, done well, it will be a great model. I’ve only washed and cleaned up the parts so far. I’m still trying to sort out the internal fuselage/nacelle configuration and some dimensions. As usual, the small amount of data available on the kit version doesn’t always agree and when it answers a question, often raises two more. I guess that’s what makes it fun . . . . we are having fun, aren’t we?

..... yes, we are, as long as we don't get bogged down with that archenemy of modelers, AMS (arrrrgggghhhh!!!)

AMS stands for Advanced Modeller's Syndrome which is an affliction that strikes many around these parts. Modellers with AMS get bogged down in the detail and minutae. Think of it as not being able to see the forest for the trees.

I'm seeing rib tapes in my sleep....

I'm worrying about how to make the rib tape go around the curved wingtips...

It's keeping me from modeling happily...

It makes me want to build another kit...

I'm not happy...

I have AMS

From the Factory Psych Ward,

I have asked this question every time this kit has come up, and so far NO answers! Is it possible without scratchbuilding wings, gondola etc. to convert this kit to an earlier Voisin 3 ? I don't have a lot of reference on Voisins!!!!
RAGIII
PS I mean if I have to do some rebuilding, shape changes, etc. OK! If it is an entirely different aircraft then no reason to get the kit!

RAGIII -

In a word, NO! The La3 has a 14.74 meter wingspan v. 18 meters for the 10, the 3 used a Salmson M9 round engine (vague memory is radial but not sure, the 10 used the Renault 12Fe 280hp v-12, the fuselage/nacelle is much smaller on the 3 and shaped differently. To sum up the 3 is a smaller, different aircraft. If you want it in 1/48, it would be easier to scratch it. IIRC Flashback did an LA3 in 1/72, if you are a multi-scale builder.

Thanks Mike, that is what I feared. I have these really nice V103 decals from Americal gryphon and nothing to put them on!
