Stephen- That looks really great. Hans was building one as well. I believe I saw a V.4 in one of your dioramas, but not sure it was the same model.

Taz, I/72 in the Staaken Diorama 1/48 here on this thread. I previously when my eyes were changing would build a 1/72 version of an kit then at the same time I would build a 1/48 version. The Staaken based SSW D.IV in 1/72 was done at the same time as this 1/48 scake SSW D.IV back in 1992. The small SSW D.IV was done to replace an Ablatros D.Va that was damaged.

Stephen- 1/48 version really looks good because you can see more detail. One of my favorites. Which kit was the basis?

Taz, It is the Eduard first issue SSW D.III with a lot of work to bring it up to a D.IV type. Especially on the ribs!

Here is a DML Spad XIII with the Engines n Things Hispano-Suiza...highly modified. This build represents Spad XIII S.15006 assigned to Lt. Joseph (Joe) Eastman of the 94th Aero sqdn. The detailed account from Eastman’s diary tells a story that was rather common for the Spad types. And so it went. In a period (discussed) of 75 days, plane # 19 (S.15006) had three motor replacements and was reported as unserviceable on 38 days, which is 50.7% of the time! In addition, it had two forced landings at which point it was condemned .

Here is the Eduard Alb. D.III (one of my first when it came out) in the markings of Ltn. Eddy ("the bullet catcher") Lübbert of Jasta 11.
