Maurice - Farman in 1/48

This is one of my holy grails... I'd love a kit, but that's not likely so I'm looking for plans suitable for a scratch building effort.

Any one know of anything that might work? I don't really care about the scale as long as they are done well enough to enlarge / reduce to 1/48.

You're a brave man Ray. Farmans are not the least challenging scratchbuild projects. I'm presuming it's the F11 you're asking about and there was a very good plan available from MAP. Whether it is still available, and if so from where, I do not know. Perhaps someone here has it and can scan it for you.

My F40 is based on a Romanian drawing.

1/48 Farman

I have started an MFII using the drawings in 'Janes fighting aircraft of WW1"
But if a manufacturer wants to forstall my efforts by releasing a kit - I certainly won't complain!
I'd love to see anyone's progress in this subject.

There are basic 3-views of the M.F. 11 as well as the F20 and F40 here. Not terribly detailed but it might be a place to start.

At this point almost anything from the old pre war Farmans would be interesting. I can probably pull of the build, but I don't think I up to doing the plans.

BTW PeterL That is a great build? What scale is it?

You might want to pick up a copy of Mike Fletcher's Early Aircraft Drawings 1911-1919 CD. There are dozens of Farman drawings, and several pre-war types are included. These are mostly drawings from Flugsport, Flight and other period publications - some are next to useless but others are quite detailed and well done. All in all, it's a very worthwhile $32.

There's an HF24 on my to-do list. . . . .

Thanks again Ray It's in the manly scale; 1/48. Actually there are some advantages to modelling pushers. For one thing there is not much in the way of a fuselage. Although the F40 involved push moulding the nacelle, which was a bit of a bugger now you mention it.
