Go, 1/32, go!
I'm normally a 1/48 kind of guy, but the Roden triplane has won me over. A state-of-the-art Albatros or Sopwith Pup/Tripe in 1/32 would make me absolutely swoon.

One engine or two...
My completed 1/48 models go into a glass bookcase to keep off the dust so building single engine a/c models have been a self imposed restriction. The 1/48the Aero Club FE2b just fits. I did buy the Roden Fexistowe in 1/72nd (probably my first 1/72 purchase in 15 years) just because of the size and the reviews. But watch, Roden or Eduard will bring out a Fexistowe or Gotha in 1/48th and I'll be setting them on top the bookcase. As much as its a temptation to get into the new 1/32 releases I like the comparison of the 1/48 completed models next to each other. Also I've got 30 years worth of 1/48 OT decals to use up and changing scales isn't helping to reduce this inventory.

I was primarily a 1/72 builder, but actually working on an Albatros DII at 1/48 (Eduard), i'm modifying my point-of-view... Will continue to build 1/72, but sure that I will build more 1/48 than 1/72 ones...

Definately 1/48 for WWI and II
I like the detailling possibilities in that scale, and have no space for anything larger...
Eyes aren't good enough anymore for 1/72 or smaller...

Hi all,
I guess I buck the trend. I started out with 1/48 scale aircraft, but I'm leaning more and more toward 1/72 scale now.
Regards,

I have a really nice 1/285 Fokker Dr.I and Spad XIII I am trying to get somebody to build for me. Stephen Lawson just laughed. Shelf space seems not to be a problem for those two. Anbody out there with Superman vision? I built a 1" wingspan solid balsa Snipe when I was a kid that has a windshield/windscreen I cannot even see without a loupe.

Taz, that was a scale I did lots in for years, but after the bifocals came along, I had to slow down. I have a bunch of 6mm tall Napoleonic British and French infantry that you can make out their canteens and the white leather straps on their backpacks. I still paint 15mm wargaming figures for folks as well as my 28mm WW2 troops. I may take a look around and see what the aircraft look like in my hand and see if I could do one of those. The big difference to me is that a wargaming piece is painted to look like it would at a distance - a plane that appears to be about an inch long in the distance will not have the detail that a model will. I still have a 1/285 Phantom kit, so I have some idea what that size will look like. If this sounds like a good risk to you, let me know, maybe I can help. Always willing to try. Looks like I will be doing some WW2 and Korean War aircraft in 1/300 for my own gaming shortly.

OK OKOK I am in the Minority ! But let me throw in . I LOVE 1/32. I've gobbled up every recent 1/32 release I can get my hands on and have pre-ordered the rest. I am anxious to get Battle Axes Alb DIII and look foward to Special Hobby's annoucemnt that they had some 3 kits to release this year in this scale? I figure it could be 2010 before Phillpe releases his ALB DVa but hey I can't wait. Meantime I can only salivate at the prospect Roden and/or others may continue to venture out and release in this scale.
TO me it's still a small scale for these planes but still look at JCD's and Buzz41's work on the ROden ! SWEET ! I like it cause this will allow me to compare later sized aircraft on the same shelf. Plus there are more figures although not as yet in WWI. I mean Iam with this HUGE scale guys really. I'd go as big as possible but hey there are very few available. Actually they really start defining the true meaning of multi-media kits as they get 1/16 and 1/8.
I understand the history of the smaller scales, popularity, and variety, etc. of the smaller scales Iam still just hoping the kit manufactures will contine to produce the same no of kits in 1/32.
