plastic filler

OK you plastic wizards, here's one for you. I'm working on an RC Ryan STA. The cowl and wheelpants come in two halves and are glued together. I'm not sure whether they are made of polystyrene or ABC but Ambroid pro-weld (kind of like Microweld) bonds it.

And now for the question. What do you guys use for filler on plastics? I obviously need to be able to sand it smooth and paint it. Paint type really doesn't matter as this is an electric model so I don't have worry about fuel proofing.

Thanks guys,
Dave

There are a couple to choose from but I prefer Squadron Green Putty on plastic (styrene models). It is not too hard - meaning that it sands smooth easily, and not too soft. The key is to let it fully harden before sanding. Overnight is plenty of time. I also like that it does not seem to shrink much at all and is good for deep fills. Two applications usually does it.

I'm a devotee of Milliput. Lay it on as thick as you like, no shinkage, absolutely none. Plus you can sculpt it and even mould it.

I use a wee bit of water to smooth the Milliput when it is on.

Greetings all;
I tend to use the plastic resin or wood dust that comes from sanding down an area or joint. For a bonding agent I use gel type cyanoacrylate. For a gap I'll put in the gel and wipe it down so there is just a bit on the inner edges of the gap. Then sprinkle in the dust and when almost dry sand lightly. Repeat if needed.
