Polish off those Fokkers
Under the mistaken impression I had a pile of unbuilt DML D.VIIs, I finally made an inventory and discovered only two. With the slew of new D.VIIs arriving, time to get rid of these birds. I decided to built them as post-war Fokkers, which is my excuse for slight variances in detail and outline.
They're to be OOB. They're actually fairly nice kits — lacking some detail in some places, some outline discrepancies, sinkholes and dreadful decals — and are going together quickly.
One will be that Polish bird with the curious wing streaking. I've posted a crude profile over at camouflage — Polish D.VII with streaked camouflage?
— and can report that the wing streaking, if interpreted correctly, actually is pretty effective, particularly underneath.

Wingstreak
With the wings painted, it actually seems like a decent camouflage experiment.
The base color is a dark medium green. The upper surfaces are streaked with alternating bands of medium brown and a very dark gray-green. The streaks vary in spacing and width across the wing, so that from a distance, parts of the wing appear a different shade as more or less medium green appears. These streaks are also not uniform in application.
The lower wing is a little subjective and influenced by D.VIII stain streaking. Over the same medium green color, the streaks are uniform and evenly spaced. They shift color at quarters. The two shades, naturally, are an Albatros mauve and an Albatros light blue.
As for freehand painting of streaks, the fun factor wears pretty thin pretty quickly.

Oob, Pdq
Everything is pretty much OOB, as you can see from the cockpits (reverse lozenge courtesy Americal) except that I can't let the rudders go without enlarging slightly.

Very cool. You have inspired me to take some extra resin Fokker D.VII wings and build up the extra Eduard fuselage I have.

Interior lozenge
The reversed lozenge looks a heck of a lot better when you mist on a light pattering of light tan spray paint.

Polishing
Beginning to come together. I decided not to make the blue area on the cowl panels a stripe, instead just colored most of the panel. The edges are barely visible as light-colored in the aerial photo, as is the vertical stab. Remember, the blue is speculative.
