Was searching for British "Harry Tate", in 48th or 72nd scale for upcomming project. Does anyone have any clues as to where I could possibly find a kit for sale? Many thanks and best of luck, TeeKay.

There's a munchkin scale Harry Tate on this bloke's site. Click on 'search site' then Airfix aircraft.

TK,
well Aeroclub did a 1/48th scale limited run injection kit.
Sadly the mold got broken a while ago. I bought one from Hannants recently but they are getting scarce.

YouŽll surely find the old AIRFIX R.E.8 in 1:72 scale via Ebay.

I got several of them from the "MODELLBAUSTUDIO RHEIN-RUHR" in Essen/Germany. The owner of this shop offers delivery of his goods to foreign countries.

There I got (in addition to 2 normal R.E.8Žs) 2 kits of his very special conversion of the old AIRFIX R.E.8 - the Belgian "Hisso-version", including decals!

I hope this helps a bit ...

There is also a new resin kit in 1/72. Choroszy kits are rather expencive, but of excellent quality they say.

Choroszy make fantastic resin kits

I have their SVA5 and Nieuport 25 and both kits are masterpieces of resin moulding. They have lots of interior detail and good decals. If you want 1/72 the Choroszy kit will be a quantum leap ahead of the Airfix old lady.

Hi There;

I concur with James, the Choroszy kits are of excellent quality. I will qualify that by saying that sometimes their instructions can be vague as to location points during assembly but that reputedly varies from kit to kit. It also something most modellers above absolute beginner level can work out easily. Most people who build their biplanes replace their resin struts also, as their strut quality can vary with broken struts not being unknown either.

Finally, you'll need to watch the resin dust if you are sanding it as it can be very deleterious to your health. ventalation or a mask is a mask, as is a thorough clean up of the dust afterwards. One way to avoid the dust issues is to wet sand with wet and dry sand paper however...

Overall, their kits are well worth money, there is an extensive range, and they have a strong reputation for accuracy.

Their website (already posted by Mikko) is jam packed with interesting subjects... if only my bank account knew no end.....

HTH

Cheers

Neil

Thomas,
You might check my posts. Somewhere in there I have one where I rave about the Chorozy RE 8. The short story is that In 49 years of modeling it is the most exquisite kit I have ever seen. By comparasion the Airfix is a toy.
I cite two problems. It is expensive, and it is so good looking as to be somewhat intimidating. One wonders if ones skill is up to the quality of the kit.
I haven't laid the parts out for measurement but the molding and detail are beyond superlatives. There are a couple of guys that feature these kits on ebay. Both Joe Francesco and Scott Zuieback have proven themselves to be honest and honerable men to me in my dealings with them.
Good luck,
Terry

You guys are right. The Choroszy kits look great. And the artists renderings are really top notch. Models such as the Salmson and Rumpler are now on my list. But first, the "Harry Tate". Thanks for the heads up on Choroszy.
