Welcome to the 'Drome Jerome! That is some excellent work you're doing! A very impressive first build. You card modellers amaze me! Thanks for sharing your pics with us and first beer in the mess is on me.

Thanks to all !

Day 4 :

Today, I made the engine cowling (and that was not really a piece of cake), cutting nice circles with a pair of cissors is challenging... The gluing part is also delicate.. anyway, I'm happy I didn't get mad before bringing the piece together.

Then came the engine, which is nothing else than usual paper, wrapped around a needle. It does look neat, I'm very glad about it.

Next pic, the aeroplane with engine and cowling. The engine, not being glued, will be able to rotate with the propeller ! Some thread for rigging has also been added between the fuse and the cowling.

After that, I started the tail. The shape is drawn on white card.

Then the structure is built, quite like the fuselage. This is one of my favorite part, it looks so nice, and it's easy...

To make the surface a little more interesting, I pressed with the finger at the center of the frames. The internal structure is then visible (right wing).

More like green with envy - it took me years to turn out something that looks as good as Jerome's first crack at it!

He's also got an unfinished 1/32nd Bleriot that's well worth a look.

Oh, it's always easier to come second...

I actually did some paper modeling before : 3 rockets, 1 satellite, 1 airship and a couple of castles when I was a kid. Yet, no airplane. But all of these were simply printed from the computer, that was no scratchbuilding for me.

And for the Bleriot, I might stick some paper wings to it. I actually suspended the construction as I didn't really know how I was going to do the wings (sooo many ribs ) and the spoke wheels (you just seem to have found a solution for that ).
